Instant digital photos may be relatively new, but instant photos are not. Many boomers and seniors fondly remember their Polaroid cameras from the late 1950s and '60s.
Polaroid is still around, although in a much different form. The company that now owns the Polaroid brand has launched a new camera that combines old and new technology. The Polaroid Snap takes digital pictures, but you can print out a 2-inch by 3-inch photo instantly because the camera stores a roll of photographic paper. You can also upload the digital photos to your computer where you can save them or email them.
The camera uses a technology known as Zero Ink, so unlike a desktop printer, there's no need to replace ink cartridges or toner. The camera retails for about $100. A replacement pack of photo paper with 30 sheets costs about $15.
