Portland the place for retirees to start a small business
Thinking of starting or buying a small business after you retire? You may want to set up shop in Portland, Oregon.
Home-services website thumbtack.com rates Portland as the No. 1 city for senior entrepreneurs primarily because of its robust training and networking programs. Rounding out the top five in “overall business friendliness” for senior entrepreneurs were Houston, Atlanta, Dallas and Denver. Thumbtack didn’t offer ratings for Long Island, but New York State got an F for ease in starting a new business, although it scored a better-than-average B- in ease of hiring.
