By all accounts, people 50 and older are more active than ever. But if that activity includes casual sex with several partners, you are as vulnerable to sexually transmitted diseases as the rest of the population -- maybe more so.
A recent British study found that the rate of sexually transmitted diseases more than doubled among people ages 50-90 over the past 10 years, a rate of increase higher than the rest of the population. The researchers wrote that changes in the bodies of postmenopausal women make them more prone to contracting sexually transmitted diseases.
