Senior Pass for national park visitors

If you're 62 or older and expect to visit a national park this summer — or anytime during the rest of your life — a Senior Pass from the U.S. government is a great bargain.

The pass allows free admission at more than 2,000 national parks and recreation sites. In parks where the admission is per vehicle, the pass allows you and all passengers in your car to get in for free. At sites that charge a per-person fee, the pass allows you and three other members of your party to get in for free, even if they are not seniors.

The pass is $10. If you get it by mail, there is an added $10 processing fee. You can avoid the processing fee by purchasing the pass in person at the Sagamore Hill National Historic Site in Oyster Bay. The visitor center is open Wednesday-Sunday 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Call 516-922-4788.
