This year, grow bigger vegetables by

thinking smaller.

Small-space gardening is perfect for older folks who like to putter around the yard but don't want an extended patch to care for. By using vertical space, your plants can grow tall, and you can bend down less.

Peconic Land Trust's Bridge Gardens in Bridgehampton is offering a workshop on small-space gardening next Saturday, 10 a.m.-noon. The Land Trust's master horticulturists will demonstrate how to use plant supports such as trellises and ways to layer vegetables to get a bumper crop out of a confined area. Rain cancels the event.

Admission is $5 and registration is required. Call 631-283-3195 or email events@peconiclandtrust.org. For more information, go to peconiclandtrust.org.
