Forty years ago, U.S. involvement in the Vietnam War came to an end when North Vietnamese forces captured Saigon, the capital of South Vietnam. For many Vietnam veterans and their families, the war still carries vivid memories.

From 1964-1975, more than 9.2 million Americans served in the military, with about 3 million of them seeing active duty in Vietnam. If you are a Vietnam veteran or served in the military at any time, Sachem Library is holding a special event to commemorate and honor your service. "Stories from Vietnam," a discussion led by Sachem resident and Vietnam veteran Peter Hanson, will give you the chance to recount your memories and hear the accounts of other veterans.

The free discussion is May 28 at 10:30 a.m. For more information, call 631-588-5024.
