Remember must-see TV? For older folks, those days are gone as the new fall television season again features a lineup of youth-oriented dramas, adolescent comedies and reality shows with casts that can be best described as must-not-see anyone older than 50.

Fortunately, PBS has two alternatives for the Act 2 set. "Last Tango in Halifax," starring septuagenarians Derek Jacobi and Anne Reid, premieres on WNET/Ch. 13 Sunday at 8 p.m. The six-part romantic series from Britain tells the story of childhood sweethearts who fall in love when both are widowed.

And demonstrating that you're never too old to compete in sports, an episode of the long-running series "POV" spotlights seven athletes, all 80 or older, as they compete in the World Table Tennis Championships. "Ping Pong" premieres Monday at 10 p.m., also on Ch. 13.
