Tax assessment workshop in Nassau County

Do you believe your property taxes are too high because of an incorrect assessment? If you're a Nassau County resident, here's your chance to do something that might help to lower them.

Town of North Hempstead Receiver of Taxes Charles Berman is holding a free workshop with advice on how to appeal your property's annual assessment. Berman will have copies of the application you need to file to make an appeal, and he'll instruct you how to fill it out.

The workshop is Monday at Great Neck Library's main branch from 2 to 4 p.m.

Be sure to bring your 2015/2016 Notice of Tentative Assessment Value that Nassau County sent out earlier this month. All appeals must be filed by March 3.
