There's no place like home

When boomers and seniors are asked where they want to spend their golden years, the No. 1 answer is "right where I am." But to remain safe and comfortable while both you and your home age often takes work.

If you're curious about the types of modifications that may help your home become elder friendly -- and what they will cost -- a free seminar should give you some answers.

Presented by a contractor from the National Aging in Place Council, the seminar will look at small upgrades, such as grab bars and security lights as well as larger, more expensive modifications.

The seminar is Wednesday at Plainview-Old Bethpage Library from 2 to 4 p.m. No registration is required, but seating is limited.
