Those gathered in their living rooms on the night of Sept. 20, 1954, to watch "Studio One" on CBS were witnesses to a great courtroom drama -- and great TV.

The performance of "12 Angry Men," written especially for television by Reginald Rose, became a shining example of TV's Golden Age. The teleplay was later adapted into a Broadway play and a 1957 movie starring Henry Fonda. (Bob Cummings starred in the TV version.)

The play, about jurors locked in rancorous deliberations for a murder trial, will be staged in a limited engagement opening Saturday night at 8 at the BroadHollow Theatre Company's BayWay Arts Center in East Islip. Advance tickets are $18; $16 for seniors 65 and older. All tickets are $20 at the door on performance days.
