Many seniors and older boomers look back fondly to 1964. It was the year The Beatles came to America and the world came to Queens.

The 1964 World's Fair at Flushing Meadows -- like the 1939 fair at the same site -- was a paean to progress and an optimistic gaze into the future. A new exhibition at the Long Island Museum, "America's World's Fairs, 1853-1982," contains a major section about the two New York events.

On Tuesday, seniors 62 and older will be admitted free, 10 a.m.-noon. (The museum is otherwise closed on Tuesdays.) Admission to the museum is usually $9 for adults and $7 for seniors.
