Falls are the leading cause of injury death among seniors, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. But the CDC also notes that falls are largely preventable.

Huntington Public Library is holding a seven-week program of classes at its main branch aimed at helping older adults reduce the risk of falls. The free seminar will be presented by the Suffolk County Department of Health. Classes begin Thursday and run every Thursday until Oct. 17. Each two-hour class begins at 10 a.m.

The "Stepping On" program is open to all, but registration is necessary. Call 631-427-5165, or go to thehuntingtonlibrary .org. You must attend all seven classes.
