The job market continues to be tight, especially for older workers. You may be able to raise the odds of getting a new job by attending a free workshop sponsored by the Nassau County Department of Senior Citizen Affairs.

The workshop, aimed at people 55 and older, will be held in eight libraries, beginning Thursday at 10 a.m. in Wantagh. Experts will teach you how to write and prepare a resume and give tips on effective job-search procedures. There will also be a discussion on interviewing techniques.

The workshops continue Sept. 29 at 10 a.m. in Syosset; Oct. 7 at 10 a.m. in Lynbrook; Oct. 27 in Massapequa at 10 a.m.; Nov. 12 in Franklin Square at 2 p.m.; Nov. 18 in Glen Cove at 10 a.m.; Nov. 29 at Hillside (new Hyde Park) at 10:15 a.m. and Dec. 9 in Levittown at 10 a.m. For more information or to register for any of the workshops, call 516-227-8945, or send an e-mail to seniors@hhsnassau countyny.us.
