Many retirees are finding the rainy day fund they thought would be used only for emergencies is drying up because they are tapping it for skyrocketing everyday costs. And even as food, energy, health care and taxes take a bigger bite, Social Security recipients have not seen a cost-of-living increase in two years.

Retirees and those approaching retirement will get some tips on how their income can keep up with their expenses at a free seminar, "Financial Challenges Faced by Seniors," at 2 p.m. Thursday at the Huntington Public Library.

Registration is required. Call 631-427-5165, ext. 299, or go to hpl.suffolk.lib.ny.us.
