Good nutrition can easily be sabotaged by poor eating habits. Cornell Cooperative Extension of Suffolk County is presenting two classes aimed at helping you to become a better food consumer.

Many of the bad things you put in your body begin with bad things you put in your shopping cart. "Basics of Healthy Eating" on Wednesday from 6 to 7 p.m. will offer tips on how to shop for food wisely. The class also will touch on healthy snacks. And because even discerning shoppers can be confused by a product's ingredients, "How to Read Food Labels," offered 6-7 p.m. Aug. 31, will help you decipher what's inside a box, can or package.

Each class is $10 and will be held at the cooperative's office in Riverhead. For more information or to register, go to health-calendar or call 631-727- 7850, ext. 340.
