Tip: Free health-care seminar for vets
As an acknowledgment of the sacrifices made by armed forces veterans, the government offers an array of programs and services for those who served, including health care. But many veterans are unaware of what benefits they qualify for, or how to take advantage of the services available.
Veterans can get information and guidance at a free health-care seminar at Sachem Library on Thursday at 10 a.m. Among the topics will be a look at new services available, including the caregiver support and women's health programs. Additionally, the Northport VA Medical Center's Mobile Unit will be in the parking lot to offer blood-pressure screenings and take photos for identification cards. Bring a copy of your military separation papers.
