Tip: Greetings from the prez to you at 80
The fastest-growing segment of the population is those 80 and older. Good news if you're 79, not so good news if you want the president to quickly send a birthday greeting to an octogenarian.
Under a long-running policy, citizens can request a presidential greeting card for those celebrating 80th birthdays or higher or for those celebrating wedding anniversaries of 50 years or more. Because of the popularity of the program -- and the increasing number of those who qualify -- the White House says it now takes at least two months to process the requests.
To request a greeting, write to the White House Greetings Office, 1600 Pennsylvania Ave., Washington, D.C. 20502. In your request, include the full name and address of those getting the card, the date of the birthday or anniversary, the person's age or the number of years married, and your name and daytime phone number.
