Veterans can manage their health care and view their personal health records through a new online program. Using My HealtheVet, veterans enrolled in a Department of Veterans Affairs facility can refill their VA prescriptions, get wellness reminders and view medical appointments and lab results. Vets also can exchange secure messages with their primary-care physician.

Veterans can view key parts of their military service records as well. Those discharged after 1979 can see their military work records, including pay details and service dates.

To register, go to www.myhealth.va .gov. Valerie Drautz, who coordinates the My HealtheVet program at Northport VA Medical Center, says to make sure you enter your personal information on the website exactly as it appears on your Veteran Identification Card. For more information or to get help registering, call Drautz at 631-261-4400, ext. 5358.
