If you love to step lively but aren’t quite up to Zumba and salsa dancing, the Golden Tone Orchestra may be playing your tunes Wednesday at the Freeport Recreation Center, from 10 a.m. to noon.
The all-volunteer 18-piece orchestra, which usually performs at the center the first Wednesday of each month, is adding another performance to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day. Dancing is definitely encouraged, and wheelchairs are welcome. If you need to wet your whistle, free refreshments will be served.
By special arrangement through the village mayor’s office, performances by the Golden Tone Orchestra are free.
All other programs at the senior center require an activity card, says Matthew Dolan, a night manager at the recreation center. But it may be one of the best bargains around. The annual card fee is $5 for residents; $10 for nonresidents.
The Freeport Recreation Center is at 130 E. Merrick Rd. For information, call 516-377-2314.
