'Your Hit Parade' at Hofstra
Before there was Snooki, there was Snooky. Singer Snooky Lanson was a staple on the 1950s TV show "Your Hit Parade," where the cast belted out the most popular songs of the week. For older seniors who remember when the show was a radio favorite in the 1930s and '40s, a nostalgic look back is being presented at Hofstra University.
Hofstra's production of "Your Hit Parade" is an original musical show that celebrates the songs of the '30s. Among the chart-topping Depression-era tunes are "Body and Soul," "All of Me," "Goody, Goody" and "My Heart Belongs to Daddy."
The weekend shows will be next Saturday at 8 p.m. and next Sunday at 2 p.m. at the Adams Playhouse on the Hofstra campus. Tickets are $27 ($23 for seniors 65 and older); 516-463-6644, or go to hofstra.edu/hofstraentertainment
