Rich cribs: Golf in the backyard
Barclays winner Nick Watney probably wouldn't mind practicing his swing at this Head of the Harbor residence, where the two-acre parcel is landscaped in part with three putting stations, two sand traps and a green with five cups. This sweet setup incorporates about a half-acre of the rear section of the property, says Geoff Matherson of Coach Realtors in West Islip, who is marketing the spread for $2.25 million.
The rest of the landscape is inviting as well -- it's set up with a free-form, in-ground heated pool with two waterfalls and a separate hot tub. A pool house, multiple-level patios and an outdoor barbecue area equipped with Viking appliances and granite countertops complete the scene.
The house is a single level -- about 4,700 square feet with wood floors. The entrance foyer and living room have 12-foot ceilings, while the other rooms have 10-foot ceilings. There are five bedrooms and four bathrooms.

VINTAGE RENOVATION
When it comes to interior design, it can be fun to mix things up a bit. Take a cue from the homeowners of a 1929 Colonial in Cove Neck. When they renovated their kitchen, they went with granite countertops -- a popular choice these days, but they also went antique.
While the cabinets are refinished to look vintage, the couple found an authentic 1907 cobalt blue wood-burning stove and had it converted to electric. It was purchased from the Good Time Stove Co. in Goshen, Mass., says listing agent Diane Anderson of Daniel Gale Sotheby's International Realty in Cold Spring Harbor.
The asking price for the property is $2.15 million.
The kitchen floor -- 150-year-old wide-plank pine -- was inspired by the original (damaged) pine floor, which was discovered in the rip-out.
Pine floors can be found throughout the 18-room house, which also features formal spaces such as the living and dining rooms. The layout includes a library and a solarium as well as six bedrooms and 5 1/2 bathrooms. The master suite sports one of the house's five fireplaces.
Set in a cul-de-sac, the 2.2-acre property -- with seasonal water views -- is landscaped with specimen plantings, a heated in-ground pool and a deck.
