Every three months, my girlfriends and I plan a craft project with a theme, go off on our own to create and then meet up to swap our handmade art with each other.

It's a great excuse to get out craft supplies I'm not using -- or hoarding-- and make something pretty. Recently, we traded "inchies" and they are so much fun to make.

Inchies are one inch square pieces of art. They're similar to Artist Trading Cards (see previous post) because you're using a small canvas to create something. The easiest way to make an inchie is to create a collage of images on a larger piece of cardstock, spritz it with ink, sprinkle some glitter on top and then cut them down to size. Use your imagination or find a cool technique to create your masterpiece.

My friend Heidi created her own style of vintage inchies featuring glam ladies of the the 1920s. I think they look very elegant! They will fit perfectly in my artist's locket and I'll get to carry her unique creation everywhere I go. Very fun!
