Best of both worlds? This Nashville singer/songwriter went viral for her song about Long Island

There are so many songs about Long Island: "Scenes From an Italian Restaurant" by Billy Joel, "Strong Island" by Rakim and now, “East Coast Cowboy” by local musician, Sarah Gross. The 26-year-old Mastic Beach native had her song go viral thanks to its catchy tune with relatable lyrics. Before her song took over the feeds of many Long Islanders, she already had a few videos go viral that showcased her life, garnering millions of views, and even had a viral moment with country singer Zach Bryan. “I was going to see Zach Bryan in concert,” she said. “We had heard about this tailgate that was happening and I saw a guy there and he looked, kind of like Zach Bryan but older.” Turns out, that man was Bryan’s father and after hearing that Gross was a musician, he asked her to have a jam session together in the parking lot and later told his son, leading to her being invited on the stage to sing with the country star himself. “I went from being literally in the rafters at UBS Arena to singing on stage with Zach Bryan,” she said. Since then, she’s reached more than 100,000 followers across her social media platforms and her music career has skyrocketed too. She recently went on tour and started splitting her time between Long Island and Nashville where missing home was the birth of “East Coast Cowboy.” Credit: Arianna Fisher
