Time for the 5th Great Long Island Tomato Challenge
It's time for the 5th annual Great Long Island Tomato Challenge! Last year more than 150 backyard growers entered the contest in a quest to find Long Island’s biggest tomato. This year’s event will be held Aug. 26 at 7 p.m. at Newsday in Melville.
In the meantime, drop me an email describing your tomato plants and your growing methods, and include pictures of you with your seedlings. Keep me posted on your progress throughout the season, and you could get a mention on the Garden Detective blog or in Newsday.
