Tip: Rock promoter: He booked them, yeah, yeah, yeah
Forty-six years ago this week, four British invaders conquered the U.S. airwaves. An unprecedented five of the Top 10 singles on Billboard's Top 100 chart were by The Beatles.
Sid Bernstein, the rock impresario who brought the band to the United States and promoted its 1965 Shea Stadium concert, will talk about his role with the Fab Four and other British Invasion groups at 2 p.m. Sunday at the Cinema Arts Centre in Huntington. Film clips of The Beatles and other groups promoted by Bernstein, now 91, will accompany the talk.
And for fans of The Beatles' biggest British rivals back in the Swinging '60s, Cinema Arts has a retrospective on the Rolling Stones' early years Tuesday at 7:30 p.m. Rock archivist Bill Shelley will discuss the Stones' impact while showing rare clips of the group.
Tickets to each event are $13. Call 800-838-3006 or visit CinemaArtsCentre.org.
