Looking for something seasonal to do tomorrow night? While it might not occur to you to visit an arboretum in December, I'm telling you Planting Fields in Oyster Bay takes on a different kind of beauty during fall and winter, and tomorrow's 6th annual tree lighting will just add to the experience.
Admission is free, and the arboretum will be open from 5:30 to 8 p.m. The tree lighting will take place at precisely 6:00. The 35-foot Japanese umbrella pine that will be lit is located on the south side of the Camilla Greenhouse. While you're there, check out the Main Greenhouse display of several hundred poinsettia plants. Then warm up with a snack from the cafe.
To get to Planting Fields, take the Long Island Expressway to Exit 41 north (Route 106), and follow that to Route 25A west. Signs will direct you into the park (1395 Planting Fields Rd., Oyster Bay).
