Loretta Ruff of Hicksville has received the Pro Deo et Schola Award from Long Island Lutheran Middle & High School in Brookville based on her efforts to help make the school a "wonderful educational ministry." Ruff served as the school's executive secretary from 1979 to 2005 and has volunteered at school events such as the LuHi Open, Bids-for-Kids Dinner Auction and, most recently, the Haiti Meal-Packing Event. She also has served on a number of councils and boards at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Plainview.
