Three Freeport men arrested Wednesday morning and charged with attempted burglary of a Massapequa cellphone store had another charge added, police said, when officers found items stolen from a similar Suffolk County store in their car.

Kareem Edney, 20, of 103 Rutland Rd.; and Valon Vailes, 20, and Sterling Green, 20, both of 223 Commercial St., were charged with attempted burglary and criminal possession of stolen property.

After hearing a police broadcast about a Suffolk cellphone store burglary in Suffolk, Nassau officers in Massapequa began checking similar locations in their area, police said.

Two of the three men were at the front glass window of the AT&T store, 450 Sunrise Hwy., about 3 a.m. when officers arrived and approached them, police said. The men ran, but were taken into custody after a brief foot chase, police said.

The third man was found in a nearby parked car that contained goods stolen earlier in Suffolk, police said.

Edney, Vailes, and Green were to be arraigned Thursday in First District Court, Hempstead.
