Average home District spokeswoman Michelle Gagnon said district could not provide the dollar amount of the school tax paid on the average single-family home because the tax levy is based on the assessed valuation of its four elementary school districts, which varies according to the district.
School board Trustees are not elected. Two trustees are appointed to the school board from each of four elementary school districts: Bellmore, Merrick, North Bellmore and North Merrick.
