Cabdriver robbed at gunpoint in Lakeview

Three men robbed a taxicab driver at gunpoint Thursday night in Lakeview, stealing $70 before fleeing on foot, Nassau County police said.

The robbery occurred at 9:15 p.m. on Coolidge Avenue.

Police said a driver for All Island Taxi was dispatched to an address on Coolidge to drive a customer to Uniondale.

When the cab arrived, three men got in - and one promptly ripped out the radio microphone so the driver could not contact his dispatcher, police said. Another held a silver handgun to the head of the driver.

The driver handed over the cash, and the trio fled west on Coolidge.
