A weak pressure gradient will keep Long Island waters below small-craft advisory levels for most of Thursday.

Waves on the ocean were running 2 to 3 feet, and waves on Long Island Sound were about 1 foot, the National Weather Service said. Winds were expected to be north and northwesterly at 5 to 10 knots, the weather service said.

Sunny skies are predicted for the full day Thursday, with rain coming in after midnight, the weather service said.

Rain was also expected Saturday afternoon and evening and early in the day Sunday.
