The Bellone administration will file a resolution Tuesday to fill the vacancy of David Calone, who is stepping down from the Suffolk County Planning Commission to campaign for U.S. Congress. Its choice is Errol Kitt of Lloyd Harbor, the vice president of Geotechnical Engineers Inc., which is consulting on a variety of environmental, water and infrastructure projects.

Kitt would become an at-large member of the planning commission. Calone has been the panel’s chairman for the past seven years, and the board will vote to name his successor in that role in February.

Bellone is also putting forward the name of a new commission member from Shelter Island, Nicholas Morehead, who is chief operating officer of the South Ferry, which services the Island.

The nominations, however, will only be considered when legislative committees begin meeting next year, which means their confirmation will also likely be delayed until at least February.
