The screening committee of the Working Families Party has recommended against giving Suffolk Sheriff contender Larry Zacarese their ballot line.

Lisa Tyson, an organizer for the minor party, said the screening committee was unhappy with Republican Zacarese’s stand on immigration issues. While the committee has made a recommendation, the state party committee has the final say. Their decision is expected sometime this week.

Zacarese, assistant chief of the Stony Brook University police, also is seeking the Reform Party line and is waging a GOP primary against party designee State Sen. Phil Boyle.
