Sean Walter, Jody Giglio to run together in Riverhead
Riverhead Supervisor Sean Walter and town board member Jody Giglio, who ran an unsuccessful Republican primary against Walter two years ago, will be running mates this fall.
Walter, of Wading River, and Giglio, of Baiting Hollow, were nominated at a town party convention held at the Elks Lodge.
Remy Bell, Riverhead GOP chairman, said there’s no lingering bad blood.
“We’ve gotten beyond that,” said Bell.
Said Giglio: “The primary was a humbling experience for both of us, but we now are working well together.”
Joining them on the ticket will be new GOP contenders Frank Beyrodt, of Baiting Hollow, a former president of the Long Island Farm Bureau who will run for town board, and William Van Helmond, a Jamesport landscaper who is running for highway superintendent.
Nominated for re-election as town assessor is Laverne Tennenberg, who has been in office since 1989. The assessor’s position has no term limits.
