Suffolk County Executive Steve Bellone’s plans to spend $50,000 for consultants to garner support and community input for major local developments is kaput, at least for now.

Bellone aides said they withdrew a resolution to hire Crowdsourced Placemakers at the Legislature’s Environment Committee meeting last Monday, after the plan got little support in the Democratic caucus.

There were too many questions,” said Legis. Sarah Anker (D-Mount Sinai).

The proposal had to go before the Legislature because only one firm responded to a request for proposals. The RFP did not detail the projects the firm would target.

Vanessa Baird-Streeter, Bellone’s spokeswoman, said the administration will seek new bids in order to get a second response to avoid a legislative vote.
