Going into the closing days of the campaign in 3rd Congressional District, former Suffolk County Executive Tom Suozzi has an edge in fundraising over Republican opponent State Sen. Jack Martins.

Federal Election Commission filings for the period Oct 1-19 show that Suozzi raised $203,920 and spent $364,396, leaving him with $329,219 cash on hand.

Martins raised $111,734, spent $182,782 and had $253,935 on hand.

In the 1st District, Republican Rep. Lee Zeldin of Shirley continues to hold more than a $1 million edge over Democratic challenger Anna Throne-Holst going into the final week, even though Throne-Holst had raised more in October.

Zeldin’s filing for the Oct. 1-19 period shows that he raised $145,762. He spent $535,329 during the same period and has $1,584,121 left for the campaign’s final days. Throne-Holst raised $295,963, spent $498,974 and has $519,192 left.

All sides are still fundraising furiously with only days to go and have to report their last-minute contributions within 48 hours.
