The Working Families Party is staying out of the Democratic primary fight that Angela Ramos, wife of the Assemb. Phil Ramos, is looking to wage against two-term Suffolk Legis. Monica Martinez.

What makes it significant is that Martinez won re-election in 2015 just on the Working Families line after withdrawing as the Democratic candidate because she lacked enough valid petition signatures.

The minor party has declined to endorse either candidate this year at least for now. According to sources, the party is seeking an alternative candidate who is an attorney who might later agree to quit the legislative race and run for state Supreme Court so the minor party could back the winner of a primary.
