Cops: 18 beheaded chickens left on street
Eighteen beheaded chickens were placed on a Manorville street, authorities said Saturday.
Roy Gross, chief of the Suffolk County Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals, said the birds were killed Friday night in the hours before someone found them on South Street and Weeks Avenue.
Gross said the chickens appeared to have been killed elsewhere and dumped later. Authorities don't yet know who put them in Manorville.
Gross said these were not fighting chickens. "They were not prepped for fighting, nothing like that at all."
