Five employees of the Rosen Insurance Agency in East Meadow face charges after they wrote insurance policies and collected compensation using the personal information of former employees, Nassau County police said.

Police said Otari Bater, 36, of 34 Phipps Ln., Plainview; Wayne Fader, 38, of 2581 Harvard Ln., Seaford; Melissa Hyland, 27, of 1580 Miriam Ct., Elmont; Nedelka McLean, of 229 Rutland Rd., Freeport; and, Charles Willon, 25, of 64 S. Clinton Ave., Bay Shore, were arrested. Tuesday at 10:25 a.m. at the agency on Hempstead Turnpike. The case was investigated by Crimes Against Property Squad detectives and the Bureau of Special Operations.

Police said each was charged with second-degree criminal possession of a forged instrument, third- and fourth-degree grand larceny and first-degree scheme to defraud.

Police said the five were involved in a scheme that used identity theft, falsifying of business records and forgery to establish fake insurance policies, earning advances and guaranteed bonuses based on selling those policies. The scheme began in 2009, police said.

All were scheduled for arraignment Thursday in First District Court in Hempstead.
