Officers responding to a 911 call of a fight Thursday evening in New Cassel arrested a gang member after they spotted a revolver tucked in the man's waistband, police said Friday.

Carlos Licona, 20, of 1844 Freeman Ave., East Meadow, was arrested in the incident at 7:45 p.m. on Union Avenue. The black-handled gun was loaded with six rounds, Nassau County police said.

Licona was charged with second-degree criminal possession of a weapon, second-degree assault and resisting arrest. Police said he was affiliated with the gang Salvadorans With Pride.

Licona was scheduled for arraignment Friday in First District Court in Hempstead.

Police said an officer sustained an injury to her right hand during the arrest. The nature of the injury was not immediately known. She was treated at Winthrop-University Hospital in Mineola.
