Two people were seriously injured Saturday in a single-car crash in Riverhead caused by an apparent seizure, police said.

Riverhead Det. Timothy Hubbard said Robert Albertson, 51, of Bethpage, was driving south with his wife on Wading River Manor Road about 3 p.m. when he had an apparent epileptic seizure.

Albertson lost control of his 2005 blue Nissan Altima, which veered off the road into a wooded area and flipped over, Hubbard said.

He said Albertson was taken by air ambulance to Stony Brook University Medical Center, where he was in critical condition with non-life-threatening injuries.

Albertson's wife, whose name wasn't released, was also taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, police said.

Further details were not immediately available.
