A Commack man was killed after he was hit by a car while on foot on Route 454 early Sunday morning, Suffolk County police said. Guy Gulutz, 39, of East Northport, was driving a 2004 Mazda RX8 west on Route 454 just north of Apple Lane in Commack at 12:27 a.m. when he struck Brian Dorak, 30, of Commack, police said.

Dorak was pronounced dead at the scene by a physician assistant from the Suffolk County medical examiner's office. Police said they don't know why Dorak was in the roadway. Gulutz was treated for minor injuries at St. Catherine of Siena Medical Center in Smithtown and released. Police impounded the vehicle, and the investigation is continuing. Police ask anyone with more information to call the Fourth Squad at 631-854-8441.
