A Uniondale man was arrested at his home Saturday after he trapped a woman there and threatened her with a razor knife, then tried to grab an officer's gun, Nassau police said.

Police responding to a call reporting a disturbance at 1233 Front St. investigated and said they found Dewayne White-Bivens, 30, had threatened the 52-year-old woman.

As police arrested White-Bivens, he began to struggle and tried unsuccessfully to grab a gun from the holster of one of the officers, police said. The woman was not injured.

Police said results of a further investigation found that on March 14, 2012 at 4:30 p.m., White-Bivens had approached a 32-year-old woman who was in a vehicle on Manor Parkway in Uniondale and punctured her rear passenger-side tire before running away.

White-Bivens was charged with third-degree robbery, second-degree menacing, first-degree unlawful imprisonment, third-degree criminal possession of a weapon, fourth-degree criminal mischief, two counts of first-degree criminal contempt and resisting arrest. At his arraignment on Sunday at First District Court in Hempstead, White-Bivens was ordered held on $20,000 bond or $10,000 cash bail. He is due back in court on Wednesday.
