A man who fell off his motorcycle Thursday afternoon in Hempstead Village was killed when struck by a cargo van that did not stop, authorities said.

Nassau County homicide detectives are piecing together what happened when a motorcyclist going west on Front Street landed on the eastbound lanes, near Burston Street, Nassau police said. It happened about 1:15 p.m., police said.

The eastbound light-colored cargo van struck him, but did not stop to help, police said.

The motorcylist was pronounced dead at the scene, police said. His name was not released as police notified his family.

Detectives said anyone with information could call Nassau County Crime Stoppers at 800-244-8477.
