Cops: Pair arrested in vehicle burglaries
Two men were arrested in Amityville and charged with possession of stolen property from at least 12 vehicle burglaries in the Bethpage area, police said Monday.
Anthony Jordan, 22, of 375 Lafayette St., Copiague, and Frank Wolfe, 19, of 29 West Cliff Dr., Dix Hills, were charged with criminal possession of stolen property, criminal possession of a controlled substance and unlawful possession of marijuana.
An Amityville police officer saw what he thought might have been a robber fleeing Saturday, when a man ran from a 7-Eleven store on Broadway, got into a waiting car on Sprague Avenue and rode off, police said.
Officers Thomas Pescitelli and Brian Smith stopped the car with Jordan and Wolfe inside shortly afterward at 4:25 p.m., police said. A woman's driver's license, credit card, electronic devices, GPS units, iPods, cellphones, and drugs were found in the car, police said.
The two men admitted to entering several unlocked vehicles in the Bethpage area, police said, and 12 victims were identified after Smith located them through their stolen GPS units. About 24 other items have been recovered.
Amityville police asked anyone who may have been a victim to contact the Nassau County Police 8th Precinct and then contact Amityville police.
