A Shirley man was arrested early Sunday after he drove a stolen car through a stop sign in Mastic, hitting a business sign and a police car, Suffolk County police said.

Jason Holland, 41, was driving a 1996 Toyota Corolla west on Clinton Avenue at 4:47 a.m. when he sped through a stop sign at Clinton Avenue and Hawthorne Street, police said.

After police attempted to pull him over, Holland tried driving away, but crashed into the sign of an auto-body shop on Montauk Highway in Mastic, police said.

While attempting to extricate himself from that crash, Holland backed his car up into a police unit, police said.

No one was injured.

Holland was charged with driving while intoxicated, two counts of criminal mischief and one count of fourth-degree grand larceny. He was not scheduled to be arraigned on Sunday.
