Cops to distribute food for needy in Yaphank

Two area law enforcement agencies and a well-known social services group have joined forces against a common enemy: hunger.

The New York State Police, Suffolk County Police Department and the Urban League of Long Island are all part of the third annual Cops Who Care food drive, an effort that aims to distribute 500 turkeys and hams to needy homes on Wednesday.

The food will be handed out to families on a first-come, first-serve basis at 1 p.m. in the parking lot of Suffolk County Police headquarters at 30 Yaphank Ave. in Yaphank.
