A Kings Park woman was seriously injured after her SUV collided with another car and caught fire in Dix Hills on Tuesday, Suffolk police said.

Around 11:49 a.m., a 75-year-old woman was driving a 2021 Lexus SUV south on Half Hollow Road when the vehicle collided with a 2022 Lexus at the intersection of the South Service Road of the Long Island Expressway.

The Lexus SUV caught fire; the Dix Hills Fire Department responded and extinguished the blaze, police said.

The woman, whose name was not released, was taken to Stony Brook University Hospital for treatment of serious physical injuries, police said.

The driver of the 2022 Lexus, a 70-year-old Wheatley Heights man, was taken to Good Samaritan University Hospital in West Islip for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries, police said.

Detectives ask anyone with information on the crash to contact Second Squad detectives at 631-854-8252.
