A Hempstead man was shot in the leg on Sunday night, police said.

The man, described as in his 30s, suffered injuries that were not life-threatening, Hempstead police said.

The shooting occurred in the area of 71 Martin Luther King Dr. about 9 p.m., police said.

Police are investigating whether the incident was a drive-by shooting because the victim did not see a gunman and no shell casings were recovered at the scene. No arrests have been made.

The village’s ShotSpotter system did not activate during the shooting, police said.
