Cops: 17 vehicles in 4 Nassau communities hit by BB shots
The windows of more than a dozen parked vehicles in four communities were shot out between Sunday and Monday by someone with a BB gun, perhaps from a white SUV, Nassau police said.
A Nassau police spokesman Tuesday morning said the number of vehicles hit had risen from 14 to 17, and that number may increase.
The white sport utility vehicle, possibly a Chevrolet, was spotted by a driveway surveillance camera in Wantagh, one of the locations hit, police said. The footage shows the suspect vehicle going past the parked cars just after 11:30 p.m. Sunday, with the time stamp on the video an hour behind due to the Daylight Saving Time change.
Other vehicles were hit in Levittown, East Meadow and North Merrick, police said.
Detectives in the First, Second and Seventh precincts are investigating, and police said additional victims or anyone with information could contact their local precincts.
